WHAT IS A DT CONNECTOR (DEUTSCH)?

It is a robust, waterproof and vibration-resistant connector used to connect electrical accessories on vehicles, especially driving lights, LED light bars, work lights, warning lights and other equipment.

The DT connector is sealed with rubber seals and locking wedges to prevent dirt and moisture from affecting the connection. This makes it ideal for trucks, trailers, construction machinery and other vehicles.

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE IN QUALITY BETWEEN DIFFERENT DT CONNECTORS?

Yes. There are original connectors and there are copies. We only sell genuine connectors from TE Connectivity.

Cheap copies may look similar, but they often use lower-quality plastic, poorer seals and lower-grade metal in the pins. This can lead to loose connections or water entering the connector over time. WHY ARE DT CONNECTORS SO COMMONLY USED FOR LIGHTING?

Lighting is mounted in exposed areas: at the front, rear or along the sides of the vehicle. These areas are exposed to water, mud, salt and vibrations. A regular “household-style” connector will not handle those conditions in the long run.

The seal is skipped because it is “only temporary” → moisture can enter immediately.
The pins are not pushed all the way in until they lock.
